I'm starting to think that having life insurance is just a bad idea.

Besides the murder, there are three other disturbing things about this case: (1) That your car can keep track of where you go, and you really have no privacy, (2) that a cop can take your phone from you without a warrant and act like he didn't, and (3) the absolute stupidity of this woman.

I am almost 70 years old, and I have a general question I’ve wondered about after watching true crime videos for years. (I realize I shouldn’t be so naïve, but I reckon I am.) Anyway, my question is this: Everyone seems to agree to never speak with detectives without a lawyer present. How does this actually work? If you don’t know any criminal lawyers, say you’re being questioned at 2 a.m., what do you say to the detectives? “Wait, hold up, I’m going home to and you can call me back in next week after I’ve found a lawyer.” How does this actually work, and what if you don’t have thousands of dollars at the moment to retain one?

After watching enough of these interrogation videos, it becomes really cringy when cops start with the, "You're not a bad person" tactic.

A lot of people mad at the cop at the start but imagine you deal daily with people lying to you and some lady comes in dragging out why she thinks her husband is a killer... "I just know." is much different than "My husband, whose first wife died under suspicious circumstances, is now threatening to kill me." It's very frustrating trying to communicate with someone making very serious claims with "I just know." Was this lady emotional, sure. But she also went to the cops expressly to GIVE THEM INFO... so... give them info. Detectives usually have a lot going on so behaving this way will just feel like an absurd waste of time where a spurned spouse is looking for revenge. If I wanted to talk in circles with someone using obnoxiously vague language, I'd talk to my mom.

How does a 1st degree murder not automatically give life with no parole? 2nd if the footage never came up the EX husband would’ve been tried on 1st degree murder. How many people are in prison for life because they didn’t have video of somebody else doing it!

My only thought: I hope and pray that this poor father has worked with his attorney to format an iron clad will, so that if something were to happen to him - like what happened to his wife - his son would NOT INHERIT ANYTHING of the family's property. I'd be installing hidden security cameras all around the house and farm... I'd have a restraining order against the son so that he's no longer allowed anywhere on his father's property. I'd have a no contact order in place against the son and HIS wife\family members. Basically, I'd break any and all contact - real or legal - with the son, and remove him completely and totally from my life. That man murdered his own mother. The prosecution totally screwed this one up, leaving too many open holes that the defense used to their favor. Bless this poor man... he now has to live the rest of his life knowing that his own flesh and blood - his OWN SON - killed his wife... the love of his life.
